Supporting Prabowo’s Program: ID Food Pledges to Provide Free Nutritious Meals for 86 Million People

Sis Apik Wijayanto, the Chief Executive Officer of ID Food, a state-owned food holding company, has officially announced the company’s unwavering endorsement of the free nutritious meal program initiated by Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This program aims to provide free nutritious meals to an impressive 86 million recipients, and ID Food is fully prepared to play a pivotal role in the distribution process by supplying seven out of the eight required food commodities, including chicken meat, eggs, fish, and rice.

In a recent interview with Beritasatu.com, Apik affirmed, “Out of the eight required commodities, seven are readily available at ID Food, such as chicken meat, eggs, fish, and rice. We are fully prepared to facilitate the distribution to cover all regions of Indonesia.” This unequivocally demonstrates the company’s dedication to contributing to the program and ensuring its successful implementation.

The distribution of food to the 86 million prospective recipients is scheduled to be carried out gradually, with the initiative set to commence in October 2024. Apik expressed his optimism that this process will proceed seamlessly in order to support the efforts aimed at reducing stunting rates in Indonesia. “We believe that this process will begin and be trialed in October. We hope everything goes smoothly,” he added.

The overarching objective of the program is to progressively expand its reach to encompass more than 80 million recipients by 2029, and it is estimated to require a total budget of Rp 400 trillion ($24.5 billion). In line with this, President Joko Widodo’s administration has allocated Rp 71 trillion in the 2025 Draft State Budget for this purpose, emphasizing the government’s steadfast commitment to the program.

The Investor Daily Roundtable, held at Rumah Kaca Melati, Hutan Kota by Plataran, Jakarta, featured Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman and ID Food CEO Sis Apik Wijayanto as key participants. The discussion, moderated by B-Universe Executive Chairman Enggartiasto Lukita, focused on governance strategies to achieve national food security. This emphasizes the recognition of the crucial importance of collaboration between the government and industry players in addressing vital issues related to food security and nutrition.

Overall, ID Food’s pledge to provide support for Prabowo’s free nutritious meal program is a significant stride towards addressing food insecurity and malnutrition in Indonesia. Through the concerted efforts of both the government and private sector entities, such as ID Food, it is anticipated that the program will effectively benefit millions of individuals across the country and contribute to the overall enhancement of public health and well-being.
