Indonesia’s Initiative to Aid Injured Palestinians in Gaza: Defense Minister Prabowo Takes Action

In a recent announcement, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has disclosed Indonesia’s plans to evacuate 1,000 victims of the Israeli military offensive in Gaza, Palestine for medical treatment in Indonesia. This decision comes as a result of his participation in a high-profile meeting in Jordan to discuss humanitarian assistance for Palestine.

Amid Israel’s comprehensive military campaign in Gaza in response to the attack by Hamas on southern Israel, Indonesia has stepped up to provide aid. According to Prabowo, the country is prepared to evacuate 1,000 patients for medical treatment, with the intention of returning them to Gaza once they have recovered and the situation has normalized. Additionally, Indonesia has expressed readiness to accommodate 1,000 Palestinian children who have experienced war trauma for study in Indonesia, with the eventual goal of repatriating them at an appropriate time.

During the meeting, Indonesia presented a concrete plan, which was well-received by other countries present. Prabowo also shared that leaders of Muslim boarding schools in East and West Java have expressed their willingness to care for Palestinian children orphaned by the conflict, a testament to the country’s commitment to extend support.

Furthermore, Indonesia is also intending to dispatch doctors and nurses to establish a makeshift field hospital in Gaza. Additionally, there are plans to send a Hercules aircraft to deliver humanitarian aid and set up a floating hospital, subject to approval.
